A garage owner has lost 20 cars due to horrific floods caused by Storm Chandra, while a young couple and newborn baby were rescued from a flooded apartment.
Parts of the country were thrown into chaos on Tuesday as river banks burst, some schools were closed, cars got stranded, traffic came to a standstill and lives were almost lost.
In Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, a young couple with a newborn baby were saved by Slaney Search and Rescue as they were unable to get out of their flooded apartment. It’s understood the family were rescued using a boat, as homes in the town had to be evacuated.
The town had to be completely closed and was one of the worst affected areas in the country as the River Slaney burst its banks.
Areas of south Dublin were also devastated by the storm, with dozens of videos on social media showing cars submerged under water.
In Rathfarnham, the River Dodder overflowed, leading to residents having to leave their homes while emergency services warned people to stay away from water if they could.
Kyle Cambell from Campbell Motors has lost potentially hundreds and thousands of euros due to the storm.
