Valentine’s Day is the closest thing we have to an official sex holiday. And even though Big Valentine pushes chocolate, flowers, and snagging the last available two-top—you can celebrate however the hell you want. Maybe that’s a night of V-day movies and ultra-romantic sex. Maybe it’s an excuse to test-drive something a little edgier. If it’s romance you crave, build anticipation throughout the day, make eye contact, kiss more, or create a simple ritual with music, lighting, lube, clean sheets and toys within reach, suggests Wright.
If you’re trying something new, make sure you’re both onboard. “Communicate in real time and keep it low stakes,” says Wright. “Try something for a minute or two, then switch if it’s not working. That flexibility is what makes people feel safe—and stay turned on,” says Wright.
