Protest at Celtic Park calls for end to Allianz GAA sponsorship
Protests against Allianz’s continued sponsorship of the GAA National League took place both outside the ground and on the pitch during a clash between Tyrone and Derry at Celtic Park on Saturday night.Protests also took place at other GAA grounds last weekend amid increasing calls for the sporting body to cut ties with the German insurer.Allianz continues to be the lead sponsor of the GAA’s National League competitions following a vote from the GAA’s An Coiste Bainistíochta (Ethics and Integrity Commission) earlier this month.Ten county boards, including all those from the six counties, had submitted a motion to the GAA to drop the company as a sponsor after it was among those listed in a report by a UN special rapporteur as having continued links with the Israeli government.A protest against GAA sponsor Allianz outside the ground before Derry took on Tyrone in the National Football League Div 2 match played at Celtic Park, Derry on Saturday 31st of January 2026.
