Waterford v Offaly LIVE score updates from the National Hurling League
Waterford made it two wins from three as they saw off Offaly in the National Hurling League at Walsh Park on Sunday afternoon. The clash was an opportunity for the Deise to build on the momentum they gained from their four-point victory over Limerick last time out. They were taking on an Offaly side this afternoon looking for their first victory of the campaign, having a suffered a 5-24 to 1-18 loss to All-Ireland champions Tipperary in Tullamore last Sunday. It was a cagey opening to the match, with both sides relying on frees for scores. Reuben Halloran was very good in this regard for Waterford, while Adam Screeney impressed for Offaly. Waterford held a 0-10 to 0-09 lead at the break, and the match seemed to be in the balance, but they pulled clear in the second half. Able to bring in plenty of experience off the bench, the match was effectively put beyond doubt when Calum Lyons found Halloron down the left wing, and the Waterford man had time and space to rifle the sliotar into the far bottom corner of the net. From then on Waterford never looked in danger of surrendering their lead, while Offaly are set for a relegation battle.
