A Dublin-based food critic embarked on a two-hour drive to Belfast to sample what he thought was "Ireland's only drive-thru Chinese", only to encounter an issue.
The content creator, known as Paul_IsItWorthIt, paid a visit to Waka Asian Fusion, situated near the city centre, which has gained quite a following on social media.
The eatery is a hit with influencers and Paul, who considers himself as "Ireland's most honest food reviewer", remarked: "To be honest, it doesn't look fantastic to me. Every review says it's 10 out of 10."
His cameraman John humorously suggested that they might also give it top marks if their "pockets were lined too".
The duo are well-known for not accepting payments for food reviews and always arrive unannounced in order to have the most genuine experience possible.
Upon arriving at the drive-thru, Paul ordered salt and chilli chips and chicken, salt and chilli chicken balls, chicken in honey and chilli sauce along with pots of curry sauce and gravy.
Observing the scene, Paul commented: "This strikes me as a spot that's been inflated by social media, the amount of views this spot has, I was expecting there to be a queue round the corner, there's not one person here."
He then found himself waiting for up to 10 minutes for the food to be handed over through the window, noting that it was far from the quick service of a McDonald's drive-thru.
However, John retorted: "Yeah, but does it claim to be? It may be a drive-thru but it's Chinese food none the less."
After collecting his order, Paul faced the awkward task of eating in his car, an experience that made him understand why Chinese drive-thrus are not commonplace.
Sampling the salt and chilli chicken and chips, he remarked that the skinny chips had "no place in a spice bag" according to his taste.
Despite this, he found them to be crunchy and well-seasoned, and concluded that the accompanying chicken was "not bad".
However, upon trying a chicken ball, he declared: "That is rotten. That is rotten. There's a fishy taste off that oil. I do not like the taste of that oil."
He then dipped it into the gravy, which he likened to tar, before concluding: "It's almost like water on it. I thought it was going to be strong tasting black gravy. There's like no taste off it. There's like a layer of water coming off the top of it. That looks mental."
Paul stressed it wasn't to his liking before John compared it to a tub of Deluxe paint.
However, they both agreed that the curry sauce smelled enticing, and upon tasting it, Paul exclaimed: "That curry sauce is banging, best thing about that Chinese is the curry sauce. That is unbelievable. Unreal."
Before sampling the honey chilli chicken, Paul accidentally spilled some sauce in his car, leading him to conclude that it's better to dine inside the restaurant rather than opt for a drive-thru.
Sampling the final dish, he remarked: "Fine. Real processed sort of taste. No strong flavours off it. So middle of the road."
Before heading back on the two hours journey to Dublin, he delivered his customary verdict.
In the video, which you can watch in full here, he said: "What score would I give all this out of ten? I'd give Waka Asian Fusion... it's such a bang average Chinese. I am giving it a 5 out of 10."
Highlighting his primary issue with the food, which totalled £25.90, he stated: "It's not what these promoters (social media influencers) say it is. It is bang average."
However, not everyone shares Paul's disappointing assessment of the establishment. One satisfied diner recently posted on TripAdvisor: "Gorgeous food, very good service. The only criticism I have is that the chips are skinny, not the usual you get in a Chinese take away."
Another reviewer noted: "Absolutely love this place. Food is beautiful, so fresh and tasty! Portions are really good. Defo recommend the saltandchilli prawn starter (v.spicy), the beef satay and Korean chilli chicken (v.spicy). Been here at least 10x in the last year, always polite and helpful staff."
