Brit flies to Dublin to find best pint of Guinness but is floored when he sees bill

A YouTuber who flew to Dublin was left gobsmacked by the cost of Guinness. Danny, who runs the Honest Places YouTube channel, often travels both the UK and Ireland giving some tips on best places to visit.

He recently discovered what he believes to be "Ireland's greatest city" and in one of his most popular videos revealed what was the best Guinness in Dublin after flying there from the UK.

Beginning his Dublin journey, Danny avoided the tourist-heavy Temple Bar and headed straight for Mulligan's on Poolbeg Street – a pub numerous locals champion as Dublin's finest.

Opting to sample a Beamish instead, he characterised it as "crisp and creamy". His search for the ideal Guinness subsequently brought him to The Confession Box on Marlborough Street, reports Belfast Live.

Following his taste of the stout, he declared: "Oh aye, that is pucker that. That is, oh bloody hell, that is smooth, that might be the winner you know. That was £11 (€12.65) by the way.

His mate replied: "Standard price over here, isn't it?" And Danny, stunned by the cost, shot back: "11 quid? Mate, I spent £6.50 (€7.48) in Manchester."

Following a local's recommendation, he made his way to Cleary's Pub, drawn by claims it poured the finest pint in town. After sampling it, he announced: "It is nice, it is very creamy. It is the creamiest one I have had today. It is smooth that. It is definitely the best one today."

He gave it a remarkable nine-and-a-half out of ten, indicating there remained just a touch of scope for absolute perfection. The search pressed on at the Guinness Storehouse, Dublin's famous visitor attraction.

After completing the brewery tour, Danny and his companion climbed to the top floor where guests receive a complimentary pint of Guinness with admission, and there, Danny discovered his favourite.

Beginning his assessment, he observed: "The glass is spotless. Spotless. Good service as well. To be fair, actually, I know it sounds like a bit of a gimmick, but I can't think of much wrong with that.

"I think it is, I think it might be me, I think that is a ten. I think that is a ten you know. The temperature is right, left to settle, can't fault it, so if you can't fault it, it has to be a ten."

Nevertheless, the supreme pint experience at the Guinness Storehouse carried a substantial cost of €40 (£35). Speaking to his 91,700 followers, he suggested: "If you want to come here, because you should come here if you like Guinness, but the best Guinness you can get is at the Storehouse. But you have to pay €40, you can't just go there for a pint unfortunately.

"I don't think you can because if you could, everyone would go in there and it would be slammed – so that's the best pint of Guinness. The best pint of Guinness where you don't have to pay €40 is a place called Bowe's Bar and you get pretty much good Guinness anywhere."
