Entries for Brake’s 2026 UK Fleet Champions Awards are now open with new award categories added.
The UK Fleet Champions Awards 2026 recognises and celebrates the important achievements of organisations and individuals working to prevent crashes and reduce pollution caused by work vehicles.
It is currently estimated that around a third of road deaths and a fifth of serious injuries involve someone who is driving for work.
Brake’s CEO Ross Moorlock said: “These awards are an excellent opportunity for fleets to showcase the important work they are doing to try to address these numbers.
“We’re excited to bring new changes to this year’s UK Fleet Champions Awards, and recognise those who are finding new and innovative ways to make our roads safer.
“We want to hear more about the teams and the drivers who are out there working hard to make a difference. We look forward to rewarding organisations that put safety first, and giving them the recognition they deserve.
“We’d also like to thank Driving for Better Business and Quartix for their vital support of this important programme.”
This year, the road safety charity has introduced some new awards into the programme and updated other award categories to reflect ongoing changes in the industry, particularly around newer technology.
New for 2026, is the Road Safety Hero Award, for the fleet manager, supervisor or driver who has carried out a heroic act in their line of duty, for example stopping at the scene of a crash to help keep people safe or give first aid, or providing excellent support to a colleague that has been involved in a crash.
A new Emergency Services Driver Safety Award is for police, fire and rescue, ambulance and other emergency services organisations that are complying with the very highest driver safety standards.
Other changes include a new Net Zero Award, for organisations working to reduce their environmental impact through their business activities.
The Fleet Safety Technology Innovation award will be awarded to a fleet operator or supplier that can demonstrate they have taken a pioneering approach to fleet safety, by implementing the latest technological solutions, with proven results.
The Road Safety in the Community Award has also been updated, as has the Fleet Team of the Year which replaces Fleet Driver of the Year, looking for an overall team that has gone above and beyond to champion road safety.
There are 13 awards in total, with entries closing on Friday, May 1.
Following the deadline, all entries will be judged by an independent panel of judges and awards will be presented at a ceremony hosted by Brake at New Dock Hall in Leeds, on Wednesday, September 30.
