New disability benefit payment rates will uplift recipients of the Carer's Allowance, Attendance Allowance and Personal Independence Payment (PIP) from today. Benefits linked to inflation will increase by 3.8% from April 6, while basic and new state pensions will be uprated by 4.8% under the triple lock. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is legally required to increase these benefits in line with inflation each April, while others are subject to parliamentary approval.
The state pension will rise by around £574.60 a year from today, thanks to the triple lock, which picks the highest out of wage growth, inflation or 2.5%, bringing the full annual amount to £12,547.60. Meanwhile, the standard rate for the PIP daily living component will rise from £73.90 to £76.90, with the standard mobility component hiked by just over £1 to £30.30.

Some 3.93 million people in England and Wales were claiming PIP in January 2026, according to data published last month by the DWP, up 6% on a year earlier.
The number of claimants has almost doubled since comparable figures began seven years ago in January 2019, with plans to reform eligibility criteria put on hold last year after a rebellion by MPs in the House of Commons.
Uprating letters are sent out to all claimants detailing the new payment rates each financial year. Recipients are advised to keep this somewhere safe as it can be used as proof of benefit entitlement when applying for other kinds of financial support.
