LinkedIn has been infected by AI content for a long time, thanks to its emphasis on content creation to expand reach and increase brand awareness. This has led to creators and industry personnel leveraging AI models to generate inspirational and motivational posts. You'll find hundreds, if not thousands of examples of "insufferable LinkedIn content" on the r/LinkedInLunatics subreddit. Now, the Microsoft-owned company wants you to make AI models even better, by offering you a playground to test them.
LinkedIn has announced Crosscheck, which is essentially a platform that allows users to submit a response and receive two responses in return. The user chooses which response is better, after which the AI model behind it is revealed. This anonymity of the underlying model helps reduce bias, as certain people are inclined towards specific vendors and their AI offerings.
This is designed as a two-way street of benefits. The user gets to try out the latest AI models to complete their work without paying for it separately or worrying about token limits, while LinkedIn gets to share its findings with vendors of AI models, presumably in return for some compensation. Overall, AI tools get better based on these real-world interactions.
LinkedIn users will also have the option to share their conversations as posts on the platform to engage your connections. Your interaction with AI responses will also contribute to a leaderboard which will help you and model vendors understand how their AI offerings are performing across various types of professions. LinkedIn has emphasized that while details regarding your interactions will be shared with vendors, it will be anonymized to preserve privacy.
It is worth noting that this is still an early experimental product of LinkedIn Labs, so you may encounter some limitations. For example, Crosscheck is only available for LinkedIn Premium users based in the United States, but it will expand to other countries and free customers eventually.
