Weekend temperatures to hit almost 30C with Yellow warning in place

Temperatures are set to soar to almost 30C in Dublin this weekend with Met Eireann issuing a Status Yellow warning due to the heatwave. The warning is in place from 12pm this afternoon until 6am on Saturday. Potential impacts include water safety issues due to increased use of lakes and beaches, possible forest fires, uncomfortable sleeping conditions and heat stress. It will be sunny and very warm today with highs of 25 to 28C. There will be plenty of evening sunshine and dry weather with highs of 14 to 16C. Saturday will see clear skies and light winds as the mercury climbs as high as 29C. Sunday will remain very warm with temperatures of 22 to 28C although outbreaks of rain will push in from the southwest in the evening and may be heavy and blustery at times too. More unsettled conditions are expected next week as a band of rain moves over the country although temperatures will remain over 20C. The national forecast for Monday reads: "A clearance to sunny spells and scattered showers. Southeasterly breezes will change southwesterly later in the day with highest temperatures a bit cooler than recently at 18 to 22 degrees." Tuesday will bring more rain with the forecast predicting: "Another unsettled and cooler day with a good mix of scattered showers, blustery winds and some sunny spells too.
