Five arrested and streets shut as man rushed to hospital after alleged attack
Five people have been held by gardai following an alleged attack in Wicklow that saw a man rushed to hospital. Gardai rushed to the scene of the incident, which happened in Arklow, Co Wicklow on Thursday. They shut a few roads following the incident at around 4:20pm. A man in his 30s was rushed to St. Vincent's for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. Gardai arrested five men following the incident. They were being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at garda stations in Wicklow and Wexford last night. Top brass at the Gardaí are still piecing it all together, reports the Irish Mirror. In a statement last night, a Garda spokesman said: "Gardaí responded to an alleged assault incident in Arklow, Co. Wicklow on Thursday 10 July 2025. The incident occurred at approximately 4.20pm. "A man (aged in his 30s) was conveyed to St. Vincent's Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening at this time. Gardaí have arrested five men in connection with the incident. They are currently detained pursuant to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, at Garda Stations in the Co. Wicklow and Co.
