Woman allegedly raped in Dublin park as gardai launch probe

Gardai have launched an investigation after a woman was allegedly raped in a central Dublin park. The woman is alleged to have been attacked by two men during a horror ordeal in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Sources tell us that the victim and the two suspects are Irish. The woman suffered the alleged attack in Sean Moore Park in Sandymount at around 12.30am. Gardai say no arrests have been made yet and they are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. The probe is being led by specialists from the Protective Services Unit at Kevin Street Garda Station, which investigates sex crimes. The force said in a statement it also wanted to hear from anyone who may have passed the area in a vehicle and has dash-cam footage. It said: "Gardaí are investigating an alleged assault that is reported to have occurred in the vicinity of Sean Moore Park, Dublin 4, at approximately 12:30am on Tuesday 8th July 2025. "Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward. Any person, including road users and pedestrians, who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and who was travelling in the area between 11:00pm on Monday 7th and 2:00am on Tuesday 8th July, is asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí. "Anyone who observed any unusual activity and/or anyone with information is asked to contact Kevin Street Garda Station on (01) 666 9400, the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
