Terrifying moment United jet's nose wheel snaps off as it comes into land at Orlando Airport

Horrifying footage captured the moment a United Airlines jet's front wheel came completely loose as it roughly landed at an airport in Orlando, Florida.

United Flight 2323 experienced a 'mechanical issue' while landing at Orlando International Airport on Sunday, around 12.35pm after departing from Chicago O'Hare International Airport, said the airline in a statement to Fox 35.

The shocking footage showed the Airbus A321neo, which was carrying 200 passengers and six crew members, descending towards the runway with its landing gear appearing to be fine.

It seemed to be a routine landing until the back wheels touched down, slamming the front end of the aircraft onto the wheels under its nose.

Behind the camera a pair watching the landing unfold can be heard reacting as the plane roughly landed, a man is heard saying: 'Holy s***.'

The plane bounced and rocked before a wheel could be seen rolling off to the right side of the jet.

United Airlines told People that incident was caused by 'mechanical issue upon landing.'

Luckily, no one was injured; however, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) told outlet that 'the aircraft became disabled after making a hard landing.'

Passengers had to be bused from the disabled plane to the terminal.

The FAA confirmed to the People that they are investigating the incident.

At the time of this report, it is not clear what caused the mechanical issue. The Daily Mail has reached out to United Airlines for comment.

Many speculated in the comments of the viral footage that the weather may have played a role in the incident, but this has not been confirmed.

Conditions in Orlando that day weren't perfect, with the National Weather Service reporting up to 56 mph winds.

The FAA's National Airspace System Status database reported that flights arriving and departing from Orlando airport the day of the incident experienced some delays, according to Fox.

In September 2025 two people were injured aboard United Flight 32, which made an emergency landing after a fire was detected on board.

The aircraft was en route from Japan to the Philippines when the crew was alerted that flames had erupted in the cargo hold just 50 minutes into the flight.

A United Airlines spokesperson told the Daily Mail that two passengers were taken to a local hospital after suffering minor injuries in the emergency.

However, they said crews could not find any signs that a fire had actually broken out after an inspection at Kansai International.
