West Cork’s Bere Island has been connected to high-speed fibre broadband, according to National Broadband Ireland (NBI).
NBI’s connection on Bere Island means that 317 homes and businesses on the island, located on the Beara Peninsula, can now access high-speed fibre broadband, it says.
“The completion of works on Bere Island means that 58,751 premises can now pre-order or order high-speed, reliable broadband across Cork with 18,996 connections made to date,” it says.
“Works have also been completed in rural areas surrounding Carrigaline, Templemartin, Midleton and across the Beara Peninsula,” it says.
NBI is installing the high-speed network under the National Broadband Plan on behalf of the Government. It says the rollout across Cork has now reached over 58,700 homes, farms, and businesses, underpinned by an investment of €314m.
NBI says residents can visit its website, nbi.ie, check their Eircode, and confirm whether they’re ready to connect and learn more about placing an order.
