UNC Gets Huge Caleb Wilson News for Upcoming Duke Matchup

The North Carolina Tar Heels are currently without their best player, freshman phenom Caleb Wilson.

Wilson has been out since fracturing a bone in his left hand during a loss to Miami on Feb. 10. The Tar Heels are 2-1 in their three full games without the future NBA lottery pick, losing to NC State and beating Pittsburgh and Syracuse.

There's no official timeline for Wilson's return to the court as UNC identifies him as "out indefinitely." But during shoot-around before Monday's ACC matchup against the No. 24 Louisville Cardinals, UNC fans got an encouraging update regarding his recovery process.

Wilson told ESPN broadcasters Dave O'Brien and Jay Williams that he absolutely plans to take the court for a season-ending matchup against the arch-rival Duke Blue Devils on Mar. 7.

Wilson is scheduled to undergo another scan on his injured left hand sometime this week, but it appears he's trending in the right direction to return sooner rather than later.

North Carolina got the best of Duke in their first matchup on Feb. 7, winning 71-68 on a game-winning three-point shot from senior Seth Trimble in Chapel Hill. Wilson had a huge impact in his first game of the rivalry, recording a team-high 23 points, four rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block through 40 minutes of play against the Blue Devils.

Wilson, a five-star freshman out of Atlanta, is one of the best players in America. The 19-year-old forward is averaging 19.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists in his debut college basketball season.

After Monday night's game against Louisville, UNC has matchups against Virginia Tech and Clemson before traveling to Durham for its season-finale at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
