Magic the Gathering: TMNT

I had the honor and privilege of working with Magic the Gathering on their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set where I was able to illustrate 5 land cards. Having grown up with TMNT, it is absolutely surreal to be typing that I illustrated the turtles... but here we are!

MTGxTMNT: Forest

First up is the 'forest' card. The idea behind all of these cards was to feature the cityscape in unique ways while keeping the turtles present as silhouettes in the scene. This gave me the opportunity to feature various aspects of the vibrant city which serve as the Turtles' playground.

I shifted the angle of the composition to feel just a bit off balance to help give movement and motion to the shot and from there went to work on all the details.
