CHESTER, Pa. (WPVI) -- A man apparently killed two people before he was fatally shot by police early Wednesday morning in Chester, Pennsylvania.
It was around midnight when officers were called to the 900 block of Barclay Street, which is right across the street from Chester High School.
The Delaware County District Attorney's Office said 911 callers indicated that a man who was armed with both a knife and a gun was trying to hurt people inside a home.
Police say they arrived to find the man stabbing a woman. He ignored police commands and continued the attack, the D.A.'s office said, and a responding officer shot him.
Officers learned from witnesses that, at some point during the incident, the same suspect had also shot a man inside the home.
The suspect and both victims were pronounced dead.
Surveillance video obtained by Action News, which was recorded before police arrived, showed the man who, neighbors say, was shot and killed by police.
He could be seen jumping on top of a car, and neighbors say he was jumping on top of several vehicles.
In another video, recorded around 1 a.m., police can be heard telling the suspect to come out with his hands up.
A large crowd had gathered at the scene during the incident.
The names of those involved have not been released.
The D.A.'s office said there is no threat to the public.
The homicides are being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Division and the police discharge is being handled by the Special Investigations Unit of the District Attorney's Office.
