Drivers face $51 fine as warning period ends for SEPTA's automated trolley cameras

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Philadelphia Parking Authority is reminding drivers that the warning period for automated trolley enforcement cameras has ended.

Beginning April 1, drivers will be fined $51 if they are caught blocking SEPTA trolley lanes and stopping zones on lines T1 through T5 and G1.

"A single illegally parked vehicle can disrupt service for thousands of riders and create unsafe boarding conditions that force passengers into moving traffic," said PPA Executive Director Rich Lazer.

Newly installed artificial intelligence cameras are being used to catch violators.

The PPA says they will review all violations detected by the cameras.

SEPTA already uses similar technology on its buses to fine drivers who park in bus lanes.
