Remember me
Earlier this year we followed British scientists out into the Atlantic studying one of the planet’s most critical life support systems.
New research by scientists in France has found that it appears significantly more likely to collapse than previously thought.
It’s known as AMOC, a conveyor belt of ocean currents and has a big impact on our weather.
Scientists put the chance of a catastrophic slowdown of AMOC by the end of the century at over 50%, plunging us into freezing winters and summer droughts that would limit our ability to grow food.
We spoke to Penny Holliday, the Chief Scientific Officer at the National Oceanography Centre.
