Sandokan is quietly finding its audience on Netflix. The new eight-part Italian series originally ran on Rai 1 in December 2025 and landed on Netflix this month in the United States and other territories. The series, which was developed by Jan Maria Michelini and Nicola Abbatangelo, is based on the classic pirate novels by Emilio Salgari, which were previously adapted for the small screen in 1976.
Sandokan features an international cast that includes Turkish actor Can Yaman as the titular legendary pirate alongside an ensemble that includes Loose Cannons' Alessandro Preziosi, The Mummy's John Hannah, Agatha Raisin's Matt McCooey, Game of Thrones' Owen Teale, and Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick.
Now, Netflix has updated their daily chart of the most-watched television series in the United States. Sandokan is standing at No. 7 as of January 24, maintaining the place to which it rose on January 22 after debuting on the chart at No. 10 on January 21.
In addition to outpacing popular new series like the final season of the reality show Queer Eye, Sandokan is the only non-English series in the Top 10. Check out the full chart for the day below:

Sandokan is also performing well in many of the other regions in which it is available on Netflix. Per FlixPatrol's proprietary streaming measurements, it ranges between No. 8 and No. 2 on the charts in two dozen individual territories, including Canada (No. 8), the United Kingdom (No. 5), Brazil (No. 3), and Mexico (No. 5).
The show has peaked at No. 2 on Netflix in four regions, namely Chile, Argentina, Trinidad and Tobago, and Uruguay. It is also charting on other streaming services on which it is available internationally, hitting No. 5 on Disney+ in Italy (where it is charting above the newly arrived Jeremy Allen White biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere) and San Marino and No. 5 on Voyo in Romania.
With this strong streaming performance coming in the wake of the original run of Sandokan drawing in four million viewers, it seems possible that the show could be in for a season 2 renewal sooner than later. While no such plans have been announced at the time of writing, conversations are likely already taking place and could come to a head if the show continues to chart internationally in the coming days and weeks.
