Standing Our Ground, Literally

It’s a quiet morning, and the store is almost empty. It’s just me, one customer in front of me, and one customer behind me. The man is having a long back-and-forth with the cashier because the price of his item isn’t clear, so she eventually has to call someone to check.

To keep things moving, again, in this very empty store, she asks:

Cashier: “Sir, do you mind if I ring her up while you wait?”

Customer: “No. I was here first.”

So, the three of us stood in line… waiting for absolutely no reason at all.
