Photo: Cleveland Cavaliers/TwitterJarrett Allen gave the Cleveland Cavaliers a strong lift in Friday’s blowout win over the Miami Heat, according to Tom Withers of The Associated Press.
Returning after missing 10 games with right knee tendonitis, Allen made an immediate impact, scoring eight points in the opening four minutes and ending the night with 18 points and 10 rebounds in just 18 minutes of action.
Head coach Kenny Atkinson had indicated beforehand that the big man would be limited to around 20 minutes, Withers notes.
“It was great,” Allen said of his quick start. “Shout-out to Kenny, he drew up the first play for me. I usually don’t get the first play sometimes, but he wanted to get me going, wanted to get me back in the groove of things and from there, things just started rolling for me.”
Max Strus also stood out for Cleveland, posting a season-high 29 points on 10-of-14 shooting in 23 minutes in just his sixth appearance of the season after offseason foot surgery, Withers adds.
