Orlando Magic forward Franz Wagner is making steady progress in his recovery from a high ankle sprain as he works toward a return for the closing stretch of the season, head coach Jamahl Mosley said Tuesday (Twitter link via Jason Beede of The Orlando Sentinel).

German forward has already participated in some 5-on-5 activity, and the team plans to evaluate how he responds to treatment before deciding on the next step.

Mosley indicated that Wagner’s return could be approaching soon. The 24-year-old has appeared in only four games since December 7 after dealing with multiple setbacks tied to the ankle injury.

Wagner has played 5 seasons for the Magic. He has averaged 19.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.7 assists in 319 regular-season games.

Will Giannis play again this season? At least one teammate is skeptical: https://t.co/uns6eqxwNN
