The Duchess was taken on a tour of the new facilities by Senior Matron Sima Magama, meeting staff and patients, as well as occupational therapists and dietitians. She took part in a baking session, greeted the artists who contributed to the building of Silverwood, and built a ‘sensory box’ with the art therapy team, before unveiling a plaque to commemorate the opening.
Birgitte’s lifelong service to the Crown often goes unsung, but the diligent Duchess of Gloucester is certainly one of the hardest-working members of the royal family.
