It’s the early hours of the morning when a frantic teenage girl calls 999 to say that her friend has been attacked in a car park. Police rush to the scene, where they find a 16-year-old boy with a life-threatening stab wound to his stomach.

While his life hangs in the balance, the case is escalated to West Midlands Police’s homicide team, and forensic investigators get to work. Two discarded weapons, found at the scene, may hold the answer.
