Peermusic has appointed veteran A&R executive Alex Black as its new Vice President, A&R in the US.
The hire was announced by Jamie Cerreta, President of US and Canada at Peermusic, on Monday (November 24).

Black,.who will be based in Los Angeles and report directly to Cerreta, will focus on signing and developing songwriters and producers across the company’s US roster.
Discussing the appointment, Cerreta commented: “I am very pleased to welcome Alex to the Peermusic team. I have worked with Alex for many years, first at Big Deal Music Group and then at Hipgnosis Songs Group, and I know that he is a talented A&R executive whose dedication, creativity, and expertise will help to bring our songwriters even more success artistically and commercially.”
Black added that joining Peermusic represented “the perfect move forward.”

Alongside his new role, Black will continue operating his management company, Home Run Management, whose clients include cktrl, Banshee The Great and Eli Keszler.
Black brings more than 18 years of A&R experience to Peermusic. He previously served as Vice President, A&R at Hipgnosis Songs Group (and before that, Big Deal Music Group), where he helped grow the frontline publishing business and signed artists including Beach House, Amber Mark, Lucy Dacus, Weyes Blood, Phoelix, Mick Jenkins, Loren Humphrey, Hatchie, Dean Reid, Kieron Menzies and Cam Avery (Tame Impala).
He also established creative joint ventures with Godmode and Stomp Down and played a role in expanding the company’s creative team.

Before joining Hipgnosis/Big Deal, Black was Director, A&R at Warner Records, working with artists such as Twin Shadow, Bankz & Steelz (The RZA & Paul Banks), Tegan and Sara, and Death From Above 1979.
Earlier in his career, he held A&R roles at Interscope Records, where he worked with TV on the Radio, Major Lazer, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and commissioned remixes including A-Trak’s “Heads Will Roll.”
Black began his A&R career early, interning at Warner Bros. Records while still in high school. His industry experience also includes assisting a founder of Goldenvoice on Coachella and Stagecoach, serving as a college rep for Warner Music Group, and scouting for Capitol Music Group. He earned a BA in Media Studies from Emerson College, where he also hosted a weekly new-music show on WERS.
Black’s appointment comes as Peermusic continues to reshuffle its US A&R leadership. The company promoted Jamie Cerreta to President of US and Canada in August 2025, followed by the appointment of Dave Ayers as EVP of A&R in September.Music Business Worldwide
