Multiple Eagles Players Punished Before Raiders Matchup

Each weekend during the NFL season, the league hands out their punishment decisions for players who broke the rules the week prior, and on Saturday, multiple Philadelphia Eagles players were hit with infractions.

The disciplinary actions are for incidents that took place during the team's game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday, which the Eagles lost in a 22-19 final score.

The league fines players who broke NFL rules, and the it states on their website that they issue these fines "to protect players from unnecessary risk and preserve competitive balance and game integrity." Before the season starts, the NFL and NFL Players Association agreed on the set of game-related rules violations that may result in accountability measures.

Now, the NFL is laying down the law on two Eagles players: tight end Cameron Latu and safety Andre' Sam.

Latu was fined $4,666 for unnecessary roughness (use of the helmet), which came at the 3:22 mark in the first quarter of the game. Sam was fined $4,741 for the same actions at the 10-minute mark in overtime. No Los Angeles Chargers players were fined for their actions in the game.

Funds raised from those fines will go to the Professional Athletes Foundation to "support legends in need and the NFL Foundation to further support the health, safety and wellness of athletes across all levels, including youth football and the communities that support the game," according to the NFL.

"Players are notified of violations and may appeal any ruling," the NFL says in their official rules book. "Cases are heard by appeals officers and former NFL players, Derrick Brooks, Ramon Foster or Jordy Nelson, who are jointly appointed and paid by the NFL/NFLPA. The decisions made are final and binding."

Up ahead, the 8-5 Eagles will take on the 2-11 Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday at home, and the Eagles are an easy favorite to take it.
