Black Ops Royale is bringing 2018 vibes back with a reimagining of Blackout that many have been eagerly anticipating in the Call of Duty community.

A lot has changed in the battle royale genre since we first saw Blackout, with one of these being the Gulag, a main staple in Warzone that essentially gives you a second bite of the apple, if you’re good in combat.

But is the Gulag back in Black Ops Royale, or is it a more faithful recreation of Blackout with limited chances?

Does Black Ops Royale have a Gulag system?

If you’re going into Black Ops Royale expecting it to be as forgiving as the Warzone experience, you’ll need to temper those expectations.

There is no Gulag system in Black Ops Royale, making it closer to the Blackout experience that so many want to go back to.

This does make things a lot harder in terms of getting a win because you can’t rely on winning a 1v1 to get straight back into the action, allowing you to potentially get even better loot than before.

Can you redeploy in Black Ops Royale?

While the Gulag is gone, there is, however, still a respawn system using tokens and beacons to give you a little bit of a safety net.

You will be given one Redeploy Token at the start of a match, and upon death, this will automatically be used to get you back in. You can find more of these as you loot throughout Avalon’s POIs, but you can only hold one at a time.

There are also Redeploy Towers, which, if captured, allow you to revive fallen squadmates so they can wingsuit back in. You do need to capture the tower here, though, which may be a little sketchy if there are others wanting to do the same thing.
