As you progress through various Acts in Slay the Spire 2, you will unlock massive power rewards for starting new acts. Going into Act 2, you can often find one of the friendly Act NPCs being the Tezcatara NPC, the big friendly Wax Wickerman thing. One of the rewards it offers you is the Toy Box, which awards Wax Relics. Here’s a look at what the Wax Relics do in Slay the Spire 2.

The Escapist Recaps Wax Relics are temporary relics, that fade from left to right. one fades after every third fight. Can be powerful options ot get more relics while you scale your build Can also give you random trash when other options are available to start your act Wax Relics seem to be any random relic in the game you’ve unlocked, so you really could get anything from it. What are Wax Relics in Slay the Spire 2?

To get Wax Relics, you need to select the Toy Box Relic from Tezcatara. Doing so will give you 4 Wax Relics, which will melt down every 3 fights you do, starting with the Wax Relic on the left. That will melt after 3 fights, then the countdown begins for the next relic, until all Relics are done. It’s a way of getting 4 pretty strong buffs, but it has diminishing returns.

The Wax Relics are often the more common relics in the game, from what we’ve seen. We’ve seen things like Anchor and Potion Belt as wax versions. So, it’s safe to presume you can probably get any Relic you’ve unlocked as a Wax version.

When you do select the Toy Box, you will get a window of four lootable relics. Ideally, you want to pick the wax relics in the order of the ones you want to last the least amount of time. That way, you can stick your most important Relics towards the end, where they can likely last 6-12 fights. That’s a lot to progress through Act 2, and quite a bit of Act 3, depending on what your mapping route looks like.

Is it worth grabbing? Maybe, maybe not. It does seem like you can get the god-tier Toy Box and get perfect synergistic relics for your build. If you’re lacking relics, it could also be nice for builds that need to scale. If you’re cruising along fine with your build, there might be other things available for you to pick up and use instead. That’s the rogue-like element of this deck builder. Have fun with your Wax Relics in Slay the Spire 2.
